COMA has been sponsoring a Malayalam class for the last several years. The class is gaining attention thanks to the hard work of our volunteering teachers Veda Warrier, Venu Nair, Madhu Parameshwaran, Prahlad Trivikraman Indira and Priyadarsini Kumar. Juniors are taught “balapattam” and seniors learn to appreciate Kerala culture, history, and literature. Twenty juniors and seven seniors completed the course and were given certificates on May 19th, 2019. Our teachers have been volunteering for many years and will appreciate help with the classes. If you are interested in volunteering or want to know more about the coming academic year (starting in August) please contact us.
These classes are available only to COMA members.

All ages are welcome, though 5 years is a good age to start. Currently we have 3 groups, sub Juniors, Juniors and Seniors.
Juniors are taught “balapaadam” and seniors more details about Kerala culture, history and literature. The emphasis is on understanding and speaking the language more than writing and reading ability.
